PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Natural Fibre Designed for Marine Cultivation

Aqua Twine™ is manufactured from carefully processed coconut coir fibre, a naturally durable plant fibre with a rough and textured surface.

The product is particularly suited to aquaculture applications where growers require a flexible natural material for seeding, attachment, wrapping, collection or temporary fastening.

Its fibrous structure can provide useful surface contact for seaweed seedlings, mussel spat and other marine cultivation applications while reducing dependence on persistent plastic-based materials.

Aqua Twine™ is intended primarily for cultivation and non-structural marine applications rather than as a replacement for structural mooring or load-bearing ropes.

MARINE APPLICATIONS

For Seaweed, Shellfish & Aquaculture Trials

Seaweed Seeding & Cultivation

Suitable for cultivation systems where coir twine is used as a natural seeding or attachment material.

Nursery-to-Sea Transfer

Can be evaluated in systems transferring seeded material from hatchery or nursery stages into marine cultivation.

Seeding Twine Around Cultivation Ropes

Suitable for wrapping or attaching seeded twine around larger cultivation lines.

Kelp & Macroalgae Attachment

The naturally rough surface can be evaluated for attachment-focused cultivation trials.

Mussel & Shellfish Spat Collection

Coir fibre can be evaluated as a rough natural surface for spat collection applications.

Temporary Longline Attachment

Suitable for temporary fastening and non-structural attachment applications.

Aquaculture Research & Pilot Trials

Useful for institutes and commercial farms evaluating alternative cultivation materials.

Marine Restoration Projects

Can be considered for experimental natural-fibre applications subject to project testing.

Synthetic-Twine Replacement Trials

Suitable for farms evaluating natural fibres as alternatives to persistent synthetic materials.

For commercial farms developing new cultivation systems, Nordic Coir can supply trial quantities for material-compatibility and marine-performance evaluation.

APPLICATION CLASSIFICATION

Designed for Cultivation — Not Structural Mooring

CONSTRUCTION OPTIONS

Configure the Twine Around Your Cultivation Method

3–4 mm Coir Twine

Suitable for seeding, wrapping, tying and general aquaculture trials.

4 mm Multi-Ply Coir Twine

A stronger construction option for projects requiring improved handling and stability.

High-Strength Coir Twine

Developed for growers requiring greater mechanical strength while retaining the natural coir surface.

Custom Diameters

Alternative diameters can be evaluated according to cultivation method, target species and application.

Supply formats may include coils, hanks, reels or project-specific lengths, subject to specification and order quantity.

CONFIGURABLE BY DESIGN

One Natural Fibre. Different Marine Constructions.

Aqua Twine™ should not be presented as a single fixed product. Different species, installation methods and marine environments may require different construction characteristics.

Diameter

Adjust according to application and handling requirements.

Number of Plies

Configure twine construction for stability and strength requirements.

Twist Density

Adjust structure and handling characteristics.

Fibre Grade

Select according to surface and construction requirements.

Surface Roughness

Evaluate the appropriate fibre texture for attachment applications.

Flexibility

Configure according to wrapping and installation requirements.

Twine Density

Adapt the construction according to project specifications.

Strength Characteristics

Develop according to the intended non-structural application and testing requirements.

DEVELOPMENT APPROACH

Trial. Evaluate. Customise. Scale.

01

Trial

Select one or more Aqua Twine™ constructions for a small-scale marine cultivation test.

02

Evaluate

Assess handling, attachment behaviour, durability and suitability under the farm's actual conditions.

03

Customise

Refine diameter, ply construction, surface characteristics, flexibility or strength requirements based on trial feedback.

04

Scale

Once the construction is validated, discuss commercial quantities, packaging and supply planning.

This approach is especially useful for farms transitioning from synthetic cultivation materials to natural-fibre alternatives.

CUSTOM MARINE SOLUTIONS

NATURAL-FIBRE ALTERNATIVE

A Different Material Approach for Marine Cultivation

Many aquaculture systems traditionally rely on synthetic twines and ropes because of their strength and durability. Aqua Twine™ is intended for applications where growers are interested in evaluating a renewable plant-fibre material for cultivation, seeding, attachment or temporary fastening.

Coir's naturally rough and fibrous surface also makes it relevant for projects where surface texture is important to handling or attachment.
